A mháistreás liom, cá bhfuil do shiúl uaim?/ O mistress mine, where are you roaming?

Twelfth Night, Gníomh II,
Radharc III

O mistress mine, where are you roaming?

William Shakespeare, 1564 - 1616

An tAbhlóir ag canadh
O Mistress mine, where are you roaming?
O stay and hear! your true-love’s coming
That can sing both high and low;
Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
Journeys end in lovers’ meeting—
Every wise man’s son doth know.

What is love? ’tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What’s to come is still unsure:
In delay there lies no plenty,—
Then come kiss me, Sweet-and-twenty,
Youth’s a stuff will not endure.
A Mháistreás liom, cá bhfuil do shiúl uaim,
Ó fan is éist! Mar tá mé chugatsa.
Canaim íseal, canaim ard;
Stop den fhánaíocht, fan a ghrá dhil
Deireadh an aistir tú i ndáil linn –
Rud é sin is léir do chách.

Níl aon ghrá ann ‘s tú sa chré
Gáir inniu, ní hann do inné;
Cá bhfios dúinn cad tá i ndán:
Níl aon mhaith sa mhoill, a thaisce
Póg mé ar mo bheola taise
Níl san óige ach lá amháin.
